SGLI Premium Rates

What is the current rate? The current basic SGLI premium rate is 6.5 cents per $1000 of insurance.
When did the current rates go into effect? The current rate went into effect on July 1, 2008.

 

New Premium Rate Effective July 1, 2008

Effective July 1, 2008, the SGLI premium rate decreased from the previous level of 7 cents per month per $1,000 of coverage to 6.5 cents per month per $1,000 of coverage.  This decreased the premium rate for a service member with the maximum coverage of $400,000 from $29.00 to $27.00 a month.  (The premium includes an additional $1.00 per month for Traumatic Injury Protection coverage (TSGLI), which is mandatory and added automatically.)
