Services Available to VA Insurance Policyholders in Affected Disaster Areas

When disasters such as floods, hurricanes, terrorist activity, etc., occur somewhere in the country, these areas are often declared “disaster areas.” In such an emergency, VA Insurance provides the following expedited and special services to ease the hardships of policyholders affected by a disaster.

Expedited, Same-Day Processing of Policy Loan Requests

Policyholders who have permanent plans of insurance may request an expedited policy loan - they may borrow up to 94 percent of the cash surrender value of their insurance. We will process requests the day they are received. Direct Deposit of loan proceeds is available. Loan requests may be made as follows:

Policyholders can make a loan request by calling 1-800-669-8477. Policyholders using this option will be asked to follow up with a written request.

The note must be signed by the policyholder. To request direct deposit of the loan proceeds, please include your bank account number, 9-digit transit routing number and the type of account (checking or savings). Policyholders who have dividend credit or deposit accounts may request a withdrawal from their account. We will process withdrawal requests the day they are received. Direct Deposit of withdrawn funds is available. Dividend withdrawal requests may be made by calling 1-800-669-8477 or by submitting a written request. Extension of Premium Payment Grace Period and Reinstatement Deadlines

Policyholders who are concerned that their insurance may lapse due to nonpayment, or are having difficulty paying their premium, or have not received a premium notice may request an extension of up to 90 days for payment of their premium.
